Letter from the Publishers - Jump-Start September with Festivals and Expos

September kicks off with two dynamic, action-packed events. First up is the Oahu Holistic & Metaphysical (OHM) Expo, which takes place Friday and Saturday, September 1 and 2, at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center. This is the first local expo of its kind, and it will provide participants with the opportunity to shop, attend workshops and connect with the Oahu community of practitioners and providers. On Saturday, September 2, the Frank Fasi Civic Grounds will be hopping with the second annual VegFest Oahu, a free community festival celebrating plant-based, sustainable living. We will have a booth at both these exciting events and hope to see many of you partaking in the festivities and myriad opportunities. Please stop by for a visit.

The theme for this month’s edition is Aging Gracefully. While it’s true that our bodies go through an aging process, we believe that our true age is how young we feel inside. We carry a child in our soul—a being that saw the world as fresh and new and felt joy bubble up over the simplest things. That child is longing to continue to experience life with us. By giving him or her a chance to feel the excitement in life, we can be assured that every day will be joy filled.

Unfortunately, the process of aging can foster a certain cynicism—a view that the world isn’t really a happy place or full of possibility. This can be compounded by the opinions expressed by friends and family. Cynicism makes it difficult to allow the childlike joy to surface. However, we strongly believe that a youthful mindset will prevail if we continue to be that person bubbling with joy even when those around us view the world as dark and dreary. We also maintain that this bubbling joy will become contagious, and all of the “soul children” will come out and shed light on the world.

Enjoy this month’s edition. Pick up a copy for a friend. As always, we love hearing from you. Give us a call or send us a note.

In gratitude,

Beckie and Bud Kowalski, Publishers
