Blue Zones Update

Community Involvement

The Blue Zones project in Hawaii, which helps people get healthier and live longer, is focused on eight communities across three islands. The three original Hawaii communities that began their Blue Zones journey in 2015 are North and East Hawaii on the Big Island and Koolaupoko in Windward Oahu. The five communities that are ramping up their programs are Kapolei-Ewa, Manoa-Makiki-McCully-Moiliili and Wahiawa on Oahu; Wailuku-Kahului on Maui; and West Hawaii on Big Island.

While the projects follow the same recipe for success, each community has its own flare for implementing Blue Zones. Take advantage of the opportunities to volunteer and benefit from the programs that enhance well-being, tackle health challenges and improve the quality of life.
