Blue Zones Update
The Blue Zones project in Hawaii, which helps people get healthier and live longer, is focused on eight communities across three islands. The three original Hawaii communities that began their Blue Zones journey in 2015 are North and East Hawaii on the Big Island and Koolaupoko in Windward Oahu. The five communities that are ramping up their programs are Kapolei-Ewa, Manoa-Makiki-McCully-Moiliili and Wahiawa on Oahu; Wailuku-Kahului on Maui; and West Hawaii on Big Island.
While the projects follow the same recipe for success, each community has its own flare for implementing Blue Zones. Take advantage of the opportunities to volunteer and benefit from the programs that enhance well-being, tackle health challenges and improve the quality of life. It has been shown that people with purpose live longer, are happier and more productive. Each person has an individual set of strengths and talents that can be used to lead a truly meaningful life. Discovering purpose helps add years to life. and life to the years that are lived.
Purpose is one of the Power of 9 elements and has been proven to improve quality of life across the world. The Wahiawa Rainbow Seniors are innovators in bringing helpful, relevant and exciting topics to their meetings. As a way to help the community members discover their own purpose and how to achieve it, they are hosting a Blue Zones Purpose Workshop at their Thursday, September 27th meeting. The public is invited to attend this interactive workshop hosted by Blue Zones of Wahiawa.
